Magic

Magic in the world of Grim Horizons is everywhere and anyone can harness and utilize magical powers, some are more adept at than others.

The Wicca religion, in particular, has always known the power of the world of magic. In the past, before they were persecuted and documents and traditions destroyed, were learned mages and far more powerful. The modern Wicca that is practiced now is a form of the traditions and manipulation of magic. It is no where near as potent and not often seen as true magic.

For example, things like Tarot, if done correctly, can accurately depict ones future.

What magic can be done?

While these skills can be used, and with enough practice mastered, by non-magical beings they are often only practiced by magical beings like mages and hunters.

Alchemy - This is the ability to put together herbs and oils and imbuing them with magical energy for a purpose. Health Potions, poison cleansing, curse purification are some common potions that you can obtain if you know someone that makes them.

Curses & Blessings - Curses and Blessings come in all shapes and sizes and purposes. A curse or a blessing is a culmination of magical energy with intent focused on a person or object. Breaking curses will depend on the curse.

A lot of people consider low level curses and blessings as karma. Seeing a string of bad luck after being rude to someone could have been someone cursing you to have "the day you deserve". Something like this often fades within a day or two.

Item imbuement - Similar to curses and blessings, mages can focus magical energy into an item and provide it with a magical intent (this can also be done temporarily with a potion poured on an object). Once the item is imbued it will have the properties of the intent. (See Magical items for commonly imbued/available items. Specialty items can be purchased from the gem store).
